Long-Term Safety and Efficacy of Pure Laparoscopic Donor Hepatectomy in Pediatric Living Donor Liver Transplantation

Summary: This study compared the surgical and long-term survival outcomes of pediatric living donor liver transplantation between open and laparoscopic groups. The results showed that the laparoscopic group had a shorter postoperative hospital stay for donors, with no significant differences in surgical complications and overall survival rate of recipients compared to the open group.

Summary: A systematic review comparing adult living donor liver transplantation (LDLT) and deceased donor liver transplantation (DDLT) found that LDLT is associated with improved patient survival, reduced waiting time, and lower MELD score, despite an increased risk of biliary complications. Hepatic artery thrombosis rates did not differ between the two types of transplantation.
