Effect of Material and Population on the Delivery of Nanoparticles to an Atherosclerotic Plaque: A Patient-specific In Silico Study

Ali Amani et al.

Summary: Coronary artery disease (CAD) is the leading cause of mortality worldwide. In this study, a patient-specific model of an atherosclerotic plaque was created and fluid-solid interaction simulation was conducted to examine the correlation between injected particles and surface density of adhered particles over the plaque. The results showed that the increase in SDP was greater for larger particles with higher injection numbers, and different trends were observed for particles of varying sizes.

A Novel Protein Corona Characterization based on the Reflectometric Interference Spectroscopy with Silica Colloidal Crystal Films

Feng Wu et al.

Summary: This study investigated the protein corona formation on nanoparticles using silica colloidal crystal films and a reflectometric interference spectroscopy (RIfS) system. The results showed that immunoglobulin G had the highest optical thickness variation during formation, and protein corona had higher optical thickness on silica nanospheres with higher curvature. The silica colloidal crystal films could effectively eliminate interference from blood cells during the detection of protein corona in plasma and whole blood samples.
