Summary: The COVID-19 pandemic had a significant impact on childhood routine immunisation globally in 2020, with millions of children missing doses of vaccines such as DTP3 and MCV1. While some regions show signs of recovery in vaccine coverage, efforts to strengthen immunisation data systems and reach children who missed routine vaccine doses during the pandemic will be crucial in accelerating progress towards higher and more equitable vaccination coverage in the coming years.
