Telomere length and risk of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease: a mendelian randomisation study

Anna Duckworth et al.

Summary: Using mendelian randomisation, this study found that shorter telomere length is associated with higher odds of IPF but not COPD, suggesting a potential contributory factor in IPF and differing mechanisms in COPD.

Kidney function and obstructive lung disease: a bidirectional Mendelian randomisation study

Sehoon Park et al.

Summary: Additional study is needed to explore the causal effects between kidney function and obstructive lung disease. The study used bidirectional two-sample Mendelian randomisation analysis with genetic instruments for kidney function and FEV1/FVC from large-scale GWAS. Results showed that increased kidney function was causally associated with improved lung function and reduced risk of obstructive lung diseases, supporting kidney function impairment as a causative factor for obstructive lung disease.

Causal Effects of Positive Affect, Life Satisfaction, Depressive Symptoms, and Neuroticism on Kidney Function: A Mendelian Randomization Study

Sehoon Park et al.

Summary: In summary-level MR analysis, depressive symptoms were significantly associated with kidney function impairment while a genetic predisposition for positive affect was linked to better kidney function. Life satisfaction and neuroticism did not show significant causal estimates on kidney function.
