Removing and recycling mercury from scrubbing solution produced in wet nonferrous metal smelting flue gas purification process

Shu Yang et al.

Summary: This research presents a novel strategy for removing and recycling mercury from spent scrubbing solution through electrochemical reduction, achieving over 92.4% removal of mercury. The controlled step in mercury electrodeposition was found to be the mass transport of reactant, and a pre-conversion step before electroreduction was necessary. Thermal desorption was employed for recycling the mercury, providing a practical alternative for decreasing mercury contamination and resource recycling.

Characterization of IR spectroscopy, APT charge, ESP maps, and AIM analysis of C20 and its C20-nAln heterofullerene analogous (n=1-5) using DFT

Akbar Hassanpour et al.

Summary: The study investigates the effects of substituting aluminum on the vibrational frequency, IR spectroscopy, APT charge, and ESP map of C-20 fullerene and its derivatives. The results suggest that the highest APT charge distribution occurs on the surfaces of the substituted heterofullerenes, particularly in C15Al5. Analysis also indicates that these substituted species may act as Lewis acid or Lewis base centers. Furthermore, the AIM analysis highlights the strongest covalent property in the C-Al bond of the most stable species, C19Al1 and C17Al3.

Summary: In all cases, singlet (3s-10s) and triplet (3t-10t) NHSis emerge as ground state, showing more stability of singlet states than their corresponding triplet congeners. Regarding the orientation of silylenic center and nitrogen or phosphor heteroatoms of fused rings, the stabilizing energy for para-fused rings is more than ortho ones.

Products distribution and contribution of (de)chlorination, hydroxylation and coupling reactions to 2,4-dichlorophenol removal in seven oxidation systems

Xiaoxue Pan et al.

Summary: The transformation behavior of 2,4-dichlorophenol (24-DCP) was studied in seven different reaction systems, showing that complete removal of 24-DCP can be achieved in minutes in Fe(VI), KMnO4, NaClO, Fenton, and O-3 systems. LC-MS analysis identified 41 products, primarily hydroxyl substitution and coupling reactions. High chlorination was observed in the NaClO system, while coupling products accounted for about 45% of the removed 24-DCP under PS oxidation.

Effect of Fe3+ on the sludge properties and microbial community structure in a lab-scale A2O process

Lanhe Zhang et al.

Summary: This study demonstrated that an appropriate concentration of Fe3+ can enhance the removal efficiencies of COD and TN in wastewater treatment, while excessive concentration may lead to inhibition. Furthermore, the positive correlation between Fe3+ concentration and TP removal was attributed to the increased surface roughness for enhanced phosphorus adsorption onto activated sludge. Thauera was identified as the dominant bacterial genus, and certain bacteria showed good adaptability to high concentration of Fe3+ within the bacterial community. Gene families related to Carbohydrate Metabolism, Amino Acid Metabolism, Cell Motility, Membrane Transport, and Replication and Repair were found to be the most abundant functional genes in the metabolic pathways.
