A Machine Learning Approach to Predicting the Heat Convection and Thermodynamics of an External Flow of Hybrid Nanofluid

Rasool Alizadeh et al.

Summary: This study numerically analyzed the heat convection and entropy generation in a hybrid nanofluid flowing around a cylinder embedded in porous media. The research found that the heat transfer of the system increases with higher Reynolds number, permeability parameter, or volume fraction of nanoparticles, while increasing nanoparticle concentration has a nonmonotonic effect on entropy generation. The study demonstrates the capability of artificial intelligence algorithms in predicting the thermohydraulics and thermodynamics of thermal and solutal systems.

Energy cost and ef fi ciency analysis of greenhouse heating system enhancement using phase change material: An experimental study

Shurong Yan et al.

Summary: The increasing production of greenhouse gases and fossil fuels prices are driving decision-makers in communications to implement energy sources more efficiently. Greenhouses play a significant role in food production and require improvements in heating systems, with the possibility of reusing waste heat through PCM explored in this study. The use of PCM HRS can significantly reduce gas consumption and lead to energy savings that return the initial investment within four months.

Comparison of Conventional and Flash Spark Plasma Sintering of Cu-Cr Pseudo-Alloys: Kinetics, Structure, Properties

Kirill V. Kuskov et al.

Summary: The kinetics of SPS consolidation for copper-based pseudo alloys was investigated in the heating rate range of 0.1 to 50 K/s, with flash spark plasma sintering (FSPS) achieving much higher consolidation rates compared to conventional SPS. Mechanically induced composite Cu/Cr particles showed sintering rates 2-4 times higher than traditional Cu + Cr mixtures, with a lower apparent sintering activation energy. It was concluded that FSPS of nanostructured powders is an efficient approach for the fabrication of pseudo-alloys.

A novel approach to investigate the thermal comfort of the lightweight relocatable building integrated with PCM in different climates of Kazakhstan during summertime

Indira Adilkhanova et al.

Summary: This study investigated the potential of PCM and natural ventilation in enhancing thermal comfort in lightweight relocatable buildings in Kazakhstan during summer. The study introduced a new indicator, TDC, to select the optimal PCM and evaluated the performance in terms of both TDC values and storage efficiency. The research concluded that PCM 26 + NV was the best performing combination in all cities, and highlighted the efficiency of RT 26 + NV in improving thermal comfort conditions. Further analysis under climate change scenarios identified RT 28 + NV and RT 26 + NV as the optimum combinations for future use.

A machine learning approach to the prediction of transport and thermodynamic processes in multiphysics systems-heat transfer in a hybrid nanofluid flow in porous media

Rasool Alizadeh et al.

Summary: This paper presents a novel approach based on machine learning techniques for predicting transport behaviors of complex multiphysics systems, resulting in significant reductions in computational time and cost. The study focuses on a hybrid nanofluid flow over a blunt object in porous media, including mixed convection, entropy generation, local thermal non-equilibrium, and nonlinear thermal radiation. The SVR model is used to approximate various functions, while the PSO meta-heuristic algorithm is applied for proposing correlations, allowing for quantitative evaluation of variables' contributions.

Experimental investigation of the usability of the rifled serpentine tube to improve energy and exergy performances of a nanofluid-based photovoltaic/thermal system

Amin Shahsavar et al.

Summary: This experimental study compares the energetic and exergetic performance of a base PVT system with sheet-and-plain serpentine tube collector with two modified PVT systems. It is found that the 6-start rifled PVT system achieved the highest overall energy and exergy efficiency at a flow rate and concentration of 80 kg/h and 2%. The electrical power generated by the different PVT systems also showed significant enhancements compared to the PV module without cooling.
