Controlled-release urea improved rice yields by providing nitrogen in synchrony with the nitrogen requirements of plants

Xiuyi Yang et al.

Summary: Controlled-release urea (CRU) has been shown to improve rice yields and nitrogen use efficiency in comparison to urea, with higher nitrogen uptake and utilization efficiency in rice plants. The synchronized release of nitrogen from CRU with the nitrogen requirements of plants can effectively enhance crop production and nitrogen conservation in rice cultivation.

Response of maize yield and nitrogen leaching to combining controlled-release urea and normal urea under different surface mulching

Liang Tang et al.

Summary: The study investigated the effects of combining CRU and urea with different surface mulching on maize growth, revealing that applying CRU and urea with plastic film mulching could significantly increase yield, reduce nitrogen loss and residual, and provide better economic returns. Properly managing nitrogen application in this way could potentially offer a better compromise among grain yield, nitrogen loss and economic returns for maize in rain-fed farmland.

A Technical System for the Large-Scale Application of Metabolites From Paecilomyces variotii SJ1 in Agriculture

Qingbin Wang et al.

Summary: A system was established for the production, quality control, and application of metabolites from endophytes (MEs) using extract from Paecilomyces variotii SJ1 (ZNC), meeting consumption requirements for over 7,467 hectares of crops. Evaluation techniques ensured high similarity and specificity of unknown components in ZNC, with industrial production significantly increasing potato yields. This study successfully demonstrated the potential for large-scale application of ZNC in agriculture.

Blended controlled-release nitrogen fertilizer with straw returning improved soil nitrogen availability, soil microbial community, and root morphology of wheat

Ruochen Li et al.

Summary: The study found that blended controlled-release nitrogen fertilizer can increase the relative abundance of Penicillium and Aspergillus fungal genera in soil, reduce the operational taxonomic unit of nitrifying bacteria of the genus Nitrospira, and improve nitrate, ammonium, total nitrogen, and organic matter content in the soil. In addition, it also enhances root length, surface area, and volume, as well as above-ground growth parameters such as plant height, net photosynthetic rate, and nitrogen content in stems and spikes. Ultimately, wheat yield and economic efficiency are significantly increased with the use of blended controlled-release nitrogen fertilizer.
