Primary care providers' knowledge, attitudes and practices of medical abortion: a systematic review

Asvini K. Subasinghe et al.

Summary: Understanding the perspectives of primary care providers on delivering medical abortion is crucial for identifying barriers and increasing access for women globally. The study found that some doctors and nurses deemed medical abortion acceptable, but fear of criminal prosecution left them hesitant about providing the service in restrictive countries. Pharmacists also showed poor knowledge regarding medical abortion regimens and complications. Increased dissemination of training and resources is necessary to support primary care providers in delivering medical abortion services and improving access for women worldwide.
