Tooth Loss and Dementia: A Critical Examination

W. M. Thomson et al.

Summary: Research suggests that individuals with better cognitive function in childhood are less likely to experience tooth loss in old age, and are more likely to maintain better cognitive function. In contrast, those with lower cognitive function in childhood are more prone to experiencing higher disease rates and greater tooth loss, resulting in cognitive decline in old age.
