Equivalent cation substitution-triggered highly efficient Mn4+ red emission in double-perovskite type (Ba, Sr)(2)(Gd, La, Y, Lu)(Nb, Sb)O-6:Mn4+ solid solution phosphors and photophysical studies

Qijian Zhu et al.

Summary: Double-perovskites have been studied for their potential in far-red luminescence applications involving Mn4+ encapsulation. Through compositional adjustments and equivalent cation substitutions, the emission intensity and thermal stability of these materials have been improved. Various doping ratios have been explored to understand the effects on the optical performance and crystal structure of the phosphors. Additionally, the concept of cation-substitution has shown promise in guiding the design of optoelectronic devices for applications such as LED plant growth systems.

Yongbin Hua et al.

Summary: New white light-emitting diode (WLED) structures based on Ca2Y(Nb,Sb)O6:Mn4+ materials were presented, showing the characteristics of two phosphors, CYS:Mn4+ and CYN:Mn4+, in detail. Results indicate that CYN:Mn4+ phosphors exhibit stronger emission intensity and higher color purity compared to CYS:Mn4+ phosphors.

Regulating anti-site defects in MgGa2O4:Mn4 through Mg2+/Ge4+ doping to greatly enhance broadband red emission for plant cultivation

Haining Wu et al.

Summary: Non-rare-earth Mn4+-activated broadband emission deep-red phosphors have been synthesized, showing asymmetric broadband emission with peaks ranging from 600 to 800 nm. Doping Mg2+/Ge4+ in the phosphors significantly affects the lattice symmetry and enhances the broadband emission of Mn4+. The emission spectra of the phosphors overlap well with the absorption spectra of plant pigments, suggesting their potential application prospects for plant cultivation.

Deep red SrLaGa3O7:Mn4+ for near ultraviolet excitation of white light LEDs

Quan Liu et al.

Summary: The red luminescent phosphor SrLaGa3O7:Mn4+ was prepared and its characteristics were studied for LED applications. The deep red emission matched well with the near-ultraviolet chips and showed potential for use in white LEDs. The phosphor exhibited strong absorption in the near ultraviolet region and had high color rendering index and low color temperature in LED devices.

The elevated colour rendering of white-LEDs by microwave-synthesized red-emitting (Li, Mg)3RbGe8O18:Mn4+ nanophosphors

Malini Abraham et al.

Summary: The low-cost Mn4+ ions with bright red emissive characteristics were successfully synthesized and utilized in white light-emitting diodes (W-LED) as a replacement for commercially available Eu2+-doped nitrides/oxynitrides. The use of microwave-assisted sol-gel (MWS) technique led to the synthesis of Mn4+-doped Li3RbGe8O18 (LRGO) phosphor with enhanced red emission intensity. The addition of Mg2+ co-doping further improved the emission intensity, with the optimized nanophosphor showing 182% higher red emission intensity compared to the solid-state-derived sample.
