Tunable plasmon induced transparency and multispectral transparency with large group delay in graphene metamaterials

Chunzhen Fan et al.

Summary: Graphene metamaterials have achieved tunable plasmon-induced transparency and multispectral transparency in the THz region. The number of optical resonant peaks can be flexibly altered with the designed strip length, and multispectral transparency can also be dynamically tuned via Fermi energy. These active and switchable graphene metamaterials show promise in applications such as optical filters, switchers, and sensors.

Inverse engineering of electromagnetically induced transparency in terahertz metamaterial via deep learning

Wei Huang et al.

Summary: This paper applies a deep learning network to the inverse engineering of electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) in terahertz metamaterials. By taking three specific points of the EIT spectrum into the model, the geometrical parameters of the metamaterials were successfully predicted and inversely designed. The method shows promising results in testing and provides a new approach for designing EIT metamaterials.

Plasmons in the van der Waals charge-density-wave material 2H-TaSe2

Chaoyu Song et al.

Summary: Localized plasmons in the correlated 2D charge-density-wave material 2H-TaSe2 demonstrate a broad spectral range from terahertz to telecom, tunable by thickness and dielectric environments. These plasmons exhibit anomalous temperature dependence associated with CDW excitations, widening and asymmetrically shaping the plasmon peak. The study reveals the role of intrinsic screening on 2D plasmons and the potential for tunable plasmons in 2D correlated materials.

Zhongpeng Jia et al.

Summary: This study focuses on the tunable electromagnetically induced transparency-like (EIT-like) effect based on graphene metasurfaces, where transparency window can be modulated by changing the nanostructure geometry or adjusting the Fermi level of graphene. This provides an actively tunable group time delay of light and a sensitive refractive index sensor for various applications.

Active control of plasmon-induced transparency with large tunability and high Q-factor in graphene-black phosphorus hybrid system

Li Han et al.

Summary: The study investigates plasmon-induced transparency phenomena in the mid-infrared caused by the coupling behavior between dipole and higher-order modes in graphene and black phosphorus nanoribbons. It shows that the transparent windows can be adjusted flexibly by varying the carrier concentration, and the carrier mobility and refractive index of the substrate are key factors affecting destructive interference. Obvious group delays near the transparent windows allow for achieving the slow light effect and help in understanding efficient exploration of surface plasmons with integrated properties from a family of two-dimensional materials.

Tunable anisotropic absorption based on black phosphorous multilayer structures

Hongxu Li et al.

Summary: By sandwiching a two-dimensional black phosphorus metamaterial between dielectric layers, an absorption structure in the terahertz band with tunable anisotropy has been proposed. The structure demonstrates tunable anisotropic absorption using coupling mode theory, reaching 99.4% absorption at 8.34 THz for TM polarization and only 17% at the same frequency for TE polarization.
