Numerical investigation of wideband L-shaped metasurface based solar absorber for visible and ultraviolet region

Shreyas Charola et al.

Summary: This paper presents a wideband metasurface absorber covering the visible to ultraviolet region, achieving high absorption efficiency. By utilizing an L-shaped metasurface array and investigating the relationship between different parameters and absorption band, it achieves over 90% absorption efficiency. This ultra-thin nanostructured absorber can be used for large area photonics applications.

Transmission-type terahertz beam splitter through all-dielectric metasurface

Jiu-Sheng Li et al.

Summary: An all dielectric metasurface design is proposed in this paper to efficiently manipulate terahertz waves, including abnormal refraction, beam splitting, and orbital angular momentum beam generation. Different transmission angles and beam effects are achieved by periodically arranging different coding units, with good agreement between the simulation and theoretical results.

Dynamically tunable single-layer VO2/metasurface based THz cross-polarization converter

Riad Yahiaoui et al.

Summary: The research demonstrates a single-layer THz metadevice that can achieve cross polarization transmission and asymmetric transmission in the THz range. The transmission characteristics change with the conductivity of the material VO2, and a promising method for active sub-cycle dynamic tunability for THz polarization conversion using optical, electrical, or thermal switching is proposed.

Wideband graphene-based near-infrared solar absorber using C-shaped rectangular sawtooth metasurface

Shobhit K. Patel et al.

Summary: The article proposes a wideband graphene-based near-infrared solar absorber design with rectangular sawtooth and demonstrates its high absorption efficiency in the near-infrared region. The study also analyzes the impact of design parameters and shows that the design is insensitive to changes in the angle of incidence. The proposed solar absorber can be used for energy harvesting.

Fine manipulation of terahertz waves via all-silicon metasurfaces with an independent amplitude and phase

Chenglong Zheng et al.

Summary: The integration of independent wavefront controls into one device is proposed to meet the demand for high-capacity flat electromagnetic devices. Several all-silicon metasurfaces are presented to achieve multifunctional designs and simultaneous modulation of amplitude and phase profiles in the terahertz band. Experimental results confirm the good performances of the proposed design in generating editable amplitude and phase for ultra-thin photonic devices.
