Adsorption Site Selective Occupation Strategy within a Metal-Organic Framework for Highly Efficient Sieving Acetylene from Carbon Dioxide

Summary: The study presents a selective adsorption strategy for separating acetylene and carbon dioxide by utilizing differences in orientation in a carefully designed amine-functionalized metal-organic framework. Incorporation of amino groups not only occupies the adsorption sites of CO2 molecules but also enhances the binding affinity with acetylene molecules. This material exhibits a high C2H2 amount at low pressure and a remarkably high C2H2/CO2 IAST selectivity at 1 bar and 298 K.
