Factors associated with delayed surgery in elderly hip fractures in India

Jaiben George et al.

Summary: Early hip fracture surgery is recommended to decrease morbidity and mortality, but in developing countries like India, only about one-third of patients receive surgery within 48 hours of reaching the hospital. Factors contributing to delayed surgery include medical comorbidities, mode of injury, additional investigations required, and type of surgery needed.
