Highly Efficient Blue Organic Light-Emitting Diode Based on a Pyrene[4,5-d]Imidazole-Pyrene Molecule

Yulong Liu et al.

Summary: Organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) are widely used in flat-panel display screens such as mobile phones and televisions due to their light weight, high flexibility, and energy efficiency. In this study, a highly efficient blue-emitting material for nondoped OLEDs was achieved using a proper donor-acceptor design strategy. The resulting OLED exhibited excellent performance with high brightness, current efficiency, and external quantum efficiency, as well as minimal efficiency roll-off.

Deep-blue organic light-emitting diodes based on push-pull π-extended imidazole-fluorene hybrids

Guowei Chen et al.

Summary: Four donor-pi-acceptor luminophores based on pi-extended imidazole-fluorene hybrid have been developed for potential applications in deep-blue electroluminescence. The introduction of alkyl chains in PhIF-2 and PyIF-2 can tune the photophysical properties, leading to better solid-state emission. These new compounds exhibit intense high-energy fluorescence suitable for OLED applications, with PhIF-1 and PyIF-1 achieving maximum EQE of 3.65% and 3.75% in non-doped OLEDs. Overall, this work provides insight for designing 7c-extended imidazole D-x-A luminophores for deep-blue electroluminescence applications.
