The solubility of ceftiofur hydrochloride in various pure solvents and binary solvent mixtures was determined at different temperatures, showing an increase in solubility with temperature. Different models were successfully used to correlate the experimental solubility data in both pure solvents and mixed solvent systems.
The solubility of ceftiofur hydrochloride in five pure solvents (methanol, ethanol, n-propanol, iso-propanol, acetone) and binary solvent mixtures (including isopropanol-water, acetone-water, isopropanol-acetone) were determined in different temperature ranges from 283.15 K to 323.15 K by a static analytical method under atmospheric pressure. In the temperature ranges investigated, it was found that the solubility of ceftiofur hydrochloride in all the selected solvents increased with the rising of temperature. The experimental solubility data in pure solvents were correlated with the modified Apelblat equation, the lambda h equation, and two local composition models (Wilson model and NRTL model). Furthermore, the modified Apelblat equation, the CNIBS/R-K model, the Jouyban-Acree model and the multicomponent NRTL model were employed to correlate the experimental solubility in mixed solvent systems successfully.
