Electroreduction of oxygen on cobalt phthalocyanine-modified carbide-derived carbon/carbon nanotube composite catalysts

Reio Praats et al.

Summary: In this study, composite materials based on carbide-derived carbon (CDC) and carbon nanotubes (CNT) modified with Co phthalocyanine (CoPc) were used as electrocatalysts for the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR). By adjusting the ratio of CDC to CNT, composite catalysts with higher CNT content exhibited enhanced ORR electrocatalytic activity. The best-performing catalyst was further tested in an anion exchange membrane fuel cell (AEMFC), showing excellent performance with a peak power density of 473 mW cm(-2).

Overview: State-of-the Art Commercial Membranes for Anion Exchange Membrane Water Electrolysis

Dirk Henkensmeier et al.

Summary: Water electrolysis is considered a promising method for storing and distributing large amounts of renewable energy, but current technologies face challenges such as high costs and scarce catalysts. Anion exchange membrane (AEM) water electrolysis is seen as a potential solution, with advantages including low cost, high operational capacity, and fast response times.

Crosslinked quaternary phosphonium-functionalized poly(ether ether ketone) polymer-based anion-exchange membranes

Mamta Kumari et al.

Summary: A series of mechanically robust and highly conducting crosslinked anion-exchange membranes were synthesized using quaternary phosphonium-functionalized poly(ether ether ketone) (QPPEEK) as the base polymer and poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) as the crosslinker. Among different compositions, the QPPEEK-PEG 20 membrane showed the best properties with high hydroxide conductivity, good mechanical strength, and flexibility. This crosslinked membrane was chemically stable in alkaline environment and performed well in anion-exchange membrane fuel cell applications, indicating the potential of PEEK-based membranes for such applications.

Ligand Valency Effects on the Alkaline Stability of Metallopolymer Anion-Exchange Membranes

Kanika Aggarwal et al.

Summary: This study systematically investigated the effect of ligand valency on nickel-based metallopolymers and found that metallopolymers with hexacoordinated nickel ions and two tridentate ligands demonstrate superior stability. Comparative analysis of the stability of different metallopolymers provides design parameters for novel metallopolymers in AEM applications.
