Microstructural evolution, precipitation behavior and mechanical properties of a novel Al-Zn-Mg-Cu-Li-Sc-Zr alloy

Summary: The microstructural evolution, precipitation behavior, mechanical properties and strengthening mechanism of a novel Al-Zn-Mg-Cu-Li-Sc-Zr alloy were investigated. It was found that the alloy exhibited improved strength but decreased ductility after two aging treatments, with the main strengthening mechanism identified as bypass strengthening.
