In situ formation of metal organic framework onto gold nanorods/mesoporous silica with functional integration for targeted theranostics

Summary: A facile strategy is reported to construct a multifunctional nanocarrier by depositing metal organic framework (MOF) on core-shell gold nanorods-mesoporous silica nanoparticles. The obtained platform efficiently integrates targeted chemo-photothermal combination therapy and tri-modal imaging. The strategy can provide insights for precise and efficient theranostics using MOF with other nanocarriers.

A theoretical and experimental study on L-tyrosine and citrate mediated sustainable production of near infrared absorbing twisted gold nanorods

Summary: An efficient and sustainable one-pot protocol was developed to fabricate twisted gold nanorods, a unique anisotropic shape displaying a broad plasmon band extending into the near infrared-III range. The growth mechanism was directed by L-tyrosine and trisodium citrate, with a diffusion limited aggregation numerical scheme used to describe the process accurately. The resulting structure was thoroughly characterized in terms of morphology, with demonstrated SERS and cytotoxic activity.
