Global exposure to flooding from the new CMIP6 climate model projections

Yukiko Hirabayashi et al.

Summary: Estimates of future flood risk based on climate models show consistent projections between CMIP6 and CMIP5, indicating higher confidence in the projections. Model uncertainties are difficult to reduce due to internal climate variability, but decisions need to be made promptly as global exposure to flooding is projected to increase with warming and population growth.
