Monitoring Occurrence of Liver-Related Events and Survival by Transient Elastography in Patients With Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease and Compensated Advanced Chronic Liver Disease

Salvatore Petta et al.

Summary: The study found that in patients with NAFLD and compensated advanced chronic liver disease, baseline liver stiffness measurements and their changes can be used to identify patients at risk for liver-related events and mortality.

Noninvasive Diagnosis of Portal Hypertension in Patients With Compensated Advanced Chronic Liver Disease

Monica Pons et al.

Summary: This study aimed to explore the prevalence of portal hypertension in different etiologies of patients with cACLD and develop classification rules based on LSM. The prevalence of portal hypertension was high in most etiologies except for NASH patients, especially obese ones. LSM >= 25 kPa was sufficient to diagnose CSPH in most etiologies, except for obese NASH patients.

Liver Stiffness Measured by Either Magnetic Resonance or Transient Elastography Is Associated With Liver Fibrosis and Is an Independent Predictor of Outcomes Among Patients With Primary Biliary Cholangitis

Karim T. Osman et al.

Summary: This study aimed to describe the diagnostic and prognostic performance of TE and MRE in patients with PBC, finding that LS measurements by both TE and MRE outperformed biochemical markers in predicting histologic advanced fibrosis and hepatic decompensation, offering additional prognostic value beyond existing serologic predictive tools.

Refining the Baveno VI elastography criteria for the definition of compensated advanced chronic liver disease

Margarita Papatheodoridi et al.

Summary: The study found that, compared to the dual cut-offs of <10 and >15 kPa proposed by Baveno VI, the dual cut-offs of <8 kPa (or <7 kPa for viral hepatitis) and >12 kPa have better diagnostic accuracy in cACLD.

Assessment of hepatic steatosis by controlled attenuation parameter using the M and XL probes: an individual patient data meta-analysis

David Petroff et al.

Summary: This study conducted an individual patient data meta-analysis to evaluate the diagnostic properties of hepatic steatosis using CAP. Results showed that optimal cutoffs for CAP varied according to different etiologies of liver disease. While CAP may not adequately grade steatosis in patients with NAFLD, it can effectively identify significant steatosis in patients with viral hepatitis.
