Hemin-phytic Acid Functionalized Porous Conducting Polymer Hydrogel With Good Biocompatibility for Electrochemical Detection of H2O2 Released From Living Cells

Xin Shang et al.

Summary: The novel hemin/phytic acid doped polyaniline (PA-PANI) hydrogel composite prepared through a simple chemical and self-assembly method showed good analytical performance for electrochemical detection of H2O2 released from living cells. The high sensitivity, selectivity and rapid response were attributed to the high conductivity and network structure of PA-PANI hydrogel, as well as its prevention of hemin self-dimerization. The biocompatibility of PA-PANI allowed living cells to adhere and facilitated a short diffusion distance between H2O2 released from cells and electrode.

Designing Carbonized Loofah Sponge Architectures with Plasmonic Cu Nanoparticles Encapsulated in Graphitic Layers for Highly Efficient Solar Vapor Generation

Liteng Ren et al.

Summary: A hybrid material of three-dimensional carbonized loofah sponges, graphene layers, and copper nanoparticles was successfully synthesized, showing improved light harvesting and high evaporation rates. The localized heating effect of stabilized copper nanoparticles led to a surface temperature of 72 degrees C and a high vapor generation rate of 1.54 kg m(-2) h(-1) with a solar thermal efficiency of 90.2% under 1 Sun illumination. These results suggest a promising perspective in practical applications in the purification of sewage and muddy water using this Cu-based photothermal material.
