ROS-responsive cyclodextrin nanoplatform for combined photodynamic therapy and chemotherapy of cancer

Die Jia et al.

Summary: Cyclodextrin is widely used for constructing CD-based nanoplatforms due to its special spatial structure and good biological safety. The study designed a highly sensitive ROS-responsive polymer PCP encapsulating doxorubicin (DOX) and purpurin 18 (P18) for synergistic photodynamic and chemotherapy effects. The micelles showed enhanced anti-cancer activity through the release of drugs triggered by ROS in the tumor microenvironment.

Synthesis and Optimization of Mesoporous Silica Nanoparticles for Ruthenium Polypyridyl Drug Delivery

Siti Norain Harun et al.

Summary: Ru-PIP is a potential anticancer drug that acts by inhibiting DNA replication, and its limited bioavailability can be overcome by using mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSNs) as a drug delivery agent. Encapsulated Ru-PIP in MSNs exerted significant cytotoxicity on cancer cell lines, indicating the potential of MSNs as an ideal drug delivery agent for sustained release of Ru-PIP by diffusion.

Mesoporous zirconia nanoparticles as drug delivery systems: Drug loading, stability and release

Benedetta Leonetti et al.

Summary: Mesoporous zirconia nanoparticles (MZNs) have been found to be a promising drug delivery system with high loading and release efficiencies for a wide range of active pharmaceutical ingredients (API). The study demonstrated that MZNs efficiently loaded and released most of the investigated API, maintaining high inertness towards various functional groups even during long-term loading.
