Cu (II) decorated thiol-functionalized MOF as an efficient transfer medium of charge carriers promoting photocatalytic hydrogen evolution

Siman Mao et al.

Summary: A new hierarchical photocatalyst SCu-CZS is designed with CdS/ZnS quantum dots loaded on Cu (II) decorated thiol-functionalized UiO-66 metal-organic frameworks for efficient water splitting. The decoration of Cu (II) transforms the charge carrier transfer mechanism, significantly improving the photocatalytic performance for hydrogen evolution. This work suggests that MOF can serve as an efficient charge carrier transfer medium, providing a new idea for MOF-based photocatalysts.

Thio linkage between CdS quantum dots and UiO-66-type MOFs as an effective transfer bridge of charge carriers boosting visible-light-driven photocatalytic hydrogen production

Siman Mao et al.

Summary: A new strategy using thiol-laced UiO-66 as a support for anchoring CdS quantum dots has been reported. The thio linkage between UiO-66 and CdS acts as an effective transfer bridge of charge carriers, greatly promoting the interface transfer process of photogenerated electrons and holes, thus enhancing the photocatalytic hydrogen production performance.

Efficient hydrogen production at a rationally designed MoSe2@Co3O4 p-n heterojunction

Hongying Li et al.

Summary: Transition metal compounds have shown high activity in photocatalysis, and the MoSe2@Co3O4 composite material prepared through hydrothermal and physical mixing methods exhibits excellent photocatalytic properties. The composite accelerates carrier separation and transfer while inhibiting the recombination of electron-hole pairs, leading to enhanced hydrogen production. Various characterization methods were used to explore the mechanisms behind the improved hydrogen production performance.

2D mesoporous ultrathin Cd0.5Zn0.5S nanosheet: Fabrication mechanism and application potential for photocatalytic H2 evolution

Wenhua Xue et al.

Summary: Two-dimensional mesoporous ultrathin Cd0.5Zn0.5S nanosheets with high photocatalytic hydrogen evolution reaction activity were fabricated, exhibiting remarkably high H-2 production activity in pure water. Ternary NiCo2S4 nanoparticles were utilized to facilitate charge separation and enhance the surface kinetics of H-2 evolution over NiCo2S4/Cd0.5Zn0.5S heterojunctions, with the Schottky junction being critical to the enhanced activity.
