Fabrication of layered Fe2P-Cd0.5Zn0.5 S nanoparticles with a reverse heterojunction for enhanced photocatalytic hydrogen evolution

Zhibin Liang et al.

Summary: In this study, a novel 2D layered Fe2P modified Cd0.5Zn0.5S nanoparticles composite was successfully developed for visible-light photocatalytic hydrogen generation. The formation of a 2D-0D reverse heterojunction in the Fe2P-CZS composite photocatalyst improved the transport and separation of photogenerated electron-hole pairs, leading to optimized kinetics of hydrogen evolution. Compared to Fe2P particles, the layered Fe2P cocatalysts exhibited higher conductivity and lower hydrogen evolution overpotential, significantly enhancing the efficiency of hydrogen production.

Approach of fermi level and electron-trap level in cadmium sulfide nanorods via molybdenum doping with enhanced carrier separation for boosted photocatalytic hydrogen production

Changfa Guo et al.

Summary: A facile one-pot solvothermal strategy was used to synthesize Mo-doped CdS nanorods in this study, which exhibited significantly enhanced photocatalytic activity with an H-2 production rate of 14.62 mmol.g(-1).h(-1) without the need for Pt as a co-catalyst, about 5.8 times higher than bare CdS. This work provides new insight into the facile synthesis of visible-light-driven photocatalysts and the effect of metal ion doping on the modulation of electronic structures.
