Persulfate activation by ZIF-67-derived cobalt/nitrogen-doped carbon composites: Kinetics and mechanisms dependent on persulfate precursor

Yudong Xue et al.

Summary: This study explores the application of metal-carbon composites as persulfate activators, highlighting the potential advantages of integrating different metal and carbon constituents. The Co@N-C composite shows superior performance by utilizing both PMS and PDS activation routes and overcoming the drawbacks of single-component activators.

Accelerated photocatalytic degradation of iohexol over Co3O4/g-C3N4/Bi2O2CO3 of p-n/n-n dual heterojunction under simulated sunlight by persulfate

Weiming Xiang et al.

Summary: The novel Co3O4/g-C3N4/Bi2O2CO3 (BCCN) photocatalyst with p-n/n-n heterojunction was synthesized, which showed significantly improved degradation efficiency for iohexol in the presence of persulfate and light. The addition of g-C3N4 lowered the conduction band of the catalyst, leading to the production of superoxide radicals and activation of persulfate. The interaction between sulfate, superoxide, and hydroxyl radicals enhanced singlet oxygen production, ultimately providing a new method for degrading organic pollutants in aquatic environments.

Carbon framework-encapsulated copper oxide particles to activate peroxymonosulfate for the efficient degradation of tetracycline

Dandan Yang et al.

Summary: CuO particles encapsulated by an irregular polyhedral carbon framework (CuO@C) were prepared via a one-pot polymerization method. The prepared CuO@C exhibited a highly enhanced performance in the activation of peroxymonosulfate (PMS). The CuO@C/PMS system demonstrated excellent performance in complex water matrixes containing various inorganic ions, possibly involving reactive species including ?OH, SO4??, and 1O2 as main oxidants.
