Integrated pre-treatment stage of biosorbent - sonication for mixed brewery and restaurant effluents to enhance the photo-fermentative hydrogen production

Summary: This study investigated the impact of an integrated pre-treatment of waste banana peel biosorbent and sonication on photo fermentative hydrogen production using a mixture of brewery and restaurant effluents. The results showed that the proposed pre-treatment not only enhanced biohydrogen production, but also contributed to reducing chemical oxygen demand in wastewater.

Hydrothermal preparation of Mn0.5Cd0.5S/carbon nanotubes nanocomposite photocatalyst with improved H2 production performance

Summary: In this study, a novel composite photocatalytic material, Mn0.5Cd0.5S/CNTs, was successfully synthesized using a feasible hydrothermal method. The material showed excellent visible-light photocatalytic performance, with CNTs acting as electron acceptors to suppress hole and charge recombination, improving H-2 production performance while maintaining stability. Additionally, a possible reaction mechanism over Mn0.5Cd0.5S/CNTs was proposed.

Boosting interfacial charge transfer for alkaline hydrogen evolution via rational interior Se modification

Summary: By using Se-doped phosphides inside nitrogen-doped carbon as catalysts, this study successfully improved the performance of electrocatalytic hydrogen evolution reaction in alkaline media. Experimental and theoretical calculations showed that the CoSe phase generated by Se modification facilitated faster charge transfer and optimized the rate-determining step, enhancing the reaction kinetics of the catalyst.
