Examining spatio-temporal mobility patterns of bike-sharing systems: the case of BiciMAD (Madrid)

Ruben Talavera-Garcia et al.

Summary: This study combines spatial and temporal analysis to explore the cycling flow of the Madrid Bike-Sharing System, BiciMAD, using over 21 million GPS records and various maps. It reveals cycling mobility patterns across the city on three different temporal scales and provides insights into season-dependent demand. The study also uncovers the different spatio-temporal travel patterns of frequent users and occasional users.

Nonlinear effects of built environment on intermodal transit trips considering spatial heterogeneity

Enhui Chen et al.

Summary: This study proposes a decision framework to identify the mean relative importance of socioeconomic attributes and built environment elements as well as their effective ranges and threshold effects at the spatial scale. The modeling results indicate that the distance to the nearest metro station ranks the highest among all attributes studied, followed by bus route and land use mix. The effective ranges and thresholds of most built environment elements vary spatially with the upper quartile zones being the largest.

Traffic Demand Prediction Based on Dynamic Transition Convolutional Neural Network

Bowen Du et al.

Summary: A Dynamic Transition Convolutional Neural Network (DTCNN) is proposed for precise traffic demand prediction, which incorporates spatial distributions, dynamics of demand, and environmental factors. By constructing a transition network and designing dynamic transition convolution units, the method effectively handles the challenges in traffic demand prediction, as validated by experiments on NYC taxi and bike-sharing data.
