Dynamic interaction between lysozyme and ceftazidime: Experimental and molecular simulation approaches

Mohd Sajid Ali et al.

Summary: The interaction between the important antibiotic ceftazidime and the imperative globular protein lysozyme was studied, revealing a weak affinity between the two primarily reinforced by hydrophobic forces and hydrogen bonding. The preferred binding site of ceftazidime in lysozyme was identified within a large hydrophobic pocket. Molecular dynamics simulations showed a slight change in the stability of the drug-protein complex.

Molecular interactions of cefoperazone with bovine serum albumin: Extensive experimental and computational investigations

Mohd Sajid Ali et al.

Summary: The study investigated the binding of the cephalosporin-class drug cefoperazone with bovine serum albumin using spectroscopic techniques and in silico methods. The importance of correcting for the inner filter effect in this type of study was emphasized, and the binding mechanism was found to involve hydrogen bonding and hydrophobic forces with almost 1:1 static binding between BSA and CFP. Molecular docking and molecular dynamics simulation suggested the presence of a putative binding site between BSA domains 1 and 3, which could be a target for future research related to BSA-drug binding.

Experimental and in silico investigation on the interaction of indomethacin with bovine serum albumin: Effect of sodium dodecyl sulfate surfactant monomers on the binding

Mohd Sajid Ali et al.

Summary: This study investigated the interaction of indomethacin with bovine serum albumin using experimental and computational approaches. The results showed a strong 1:1 binding between BSA and indomethacin via static quenching mechanism, which was energetically favorable. The binding of indomethacin was affected by the concentration of SDS surfactants monomers, with high concentrations leading to partial unfolding of the protein.

Novel hypervalent iodine catalyzed synthesis of α-sulfonoxy ketones: Biological activity and molecular docking studies

Ufuk Atmaca et al.

Summary: The novel compound DCIB was synthesized under mild conditions and used for alpha-sulfonoxylation of various ketones to produce alpha-hydroxyketones. Biochemical studies showed that the synthesized alpha-sulfonoxy ketones had strong inhibitory effects on metabolic enzymes. The inhibition of enzymes by the camphorsulfonoxy moiety was attributed to hydrophobic interactions and hydrogen bonding.
