Chitinase 3-like-1 and fibronectin in the cargo of extracellular vesicles shed by human macrophages influence pancreatic cancer cellular response to gemcitabine

Cristina P. R. Xavier et al.

Summary: Research has shown that large EVs released by macrophages contain proteins CHI3L1 and FN1, whose overexpression can lead to increased resistance of PDAC cells to gemcitabine. Partial reversal of gemcitabine resistance can be achieved by inhibiting CHI3L1 and FN1, providing potential targets for pharmacological intervention in PDAC treatment.

A novel anhydrous preparation of PEG hydrogels enables high drug loading with biologics for controlled release applications

Christian E. Ziegler et al.

Summary: Using a water-free reaction method to prepare hydrogels for embedding biologics allows long-term controlled release, improving protein stability and loading capacity. The melt polymerization reaction effectively protects proteins and maleimide groups, serving as a potential release system for biologics with controlled release over 100 days.

Externally Triggered Novel Rapid-Release Sonosensitive Folate-Modified Liposomes for Gemcitabine: Development and Characteristics

Mahmoud M. Omar et al.

Summary: The study successfully prepared gemcitabine-loaded targeted liposomes, with GMC-SoS Fo LP demonstrating a 6.51-fold increase in cellular uptake under ultrasound. Biodistribution study showed that GMC concentration in tumors treated with GMC-SoS-Fo LPs (with ultrasound) improved 2.89-fold that of free GMC. In vivo, GMC-SoS Fo LPs showed the highest antiproliferative and antitumor action on ovarian cancer.
