Association of maternal serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D concentrations with risk of preeclampsia: a nested case-control study and meta-analysis

Yingdi Yuan et al.

Summary: The study found a significant association between low 25(OH)D concentration during pregnancy and the risk of preeclampsia in a Chinese population. Pregnant women with low 25(OH)D concentrations had a higher risk of developing preeclampsia, and this biomarker may be used for surveillance of high-risk pregnant women. Further meta-analysis confirmed that low 25(OH)D concentrations were consistently associated with an increased risk of preeclampsia.

Summary: There is no significant association between dietary intake and ovarian cancer risk overall, but consuming high amounts of green leafy vegetables, allium vegetables, fiber, flavonoids, and green tea can significantly reduce the risk of ovarian cancer. Additionally, intake of total fat, saturated fat, saturated fatty acids, cholesterol, and retinol can significantly increase the risk of ovarian cancer. Results showed that increased ozone exposure during early pregnancy is associated with preterm birth across studies, with high heterogeneity observed in effect estimates for both exposure periods.

Extragonadal teratomas in women and adolescent girls: A systematic review

Abhiram Kanneganti et al.

Summary: This study presented two rare cases of extragonadal teratomas, one being a parasitic omental teratoma likely secondary to auto-amputation and the other an omental immature teratoma likely due to displaced primordial germ cells. A systematic review revealed omental teratomas as the most common subtype, with diagnosis usually confirmed intraoperatively.

Outcomes of reproduction following cesarean scar pregnancy treatment: A systematic review and meta-analysis

Jiawen Wu et al.

Summary: The study explored the reproductive outcomes of women with a history of cesarean scar pregnancy and analyzed the influence of various treatments on subsequent pregnancy outcomes. The results showed that women with a history of CSP still have a high pregnancy rate, but the risk of recurrent CSP and spontaneous miscarriage is increased. The effect of different treatments on subsequent pregnancy outcomes needs further assessment.

Outcomes of second stage cesarean section following the use of a fetal head elevation device: A systematic review and meta-analysis

Raffaella Di Girolamo et al.

Summary: The study found that applying fetal head elevation device (FHED) during full dilatation cesarean section can reduce the time from hysterotomy to delivery, decrease estimated blood loss, and shorten hospital stay. It also lowers the risks of uterine incision extension, blood transfusion, and operative complications. In terms of perinatal outcomes, women who received FHED had higher arterial pH values and lower risks of neonatal sepsis and admission to NICU.

Summary: The study examined the effectiveness and safety of prophylactic internal iliac artery balloon occlusion for hemorrhage control in placenta accreta. Results showed no significant differences between the internal iliac artery balloon occlusion group and the control group in blood loss, packed RBCs transfused, intensive care unit admission, hysterectomy, urinary system injury, Apgar score at 5 min, and neonatal intensive care unit admission. Further large randomized controlled studies are needed to confirm these findings.

The impact of exercise training on inflammatory markers in postmenopausal women: A systemic review and meta-analysis

Mousa Khalafi et al.

Summary: The systematic review and meta-analysis found that exercise training significantly reduced IL-6, TNF-alpha, and CRP, while increasing adiponectin in postmenopausal women. Subgroup analyses also showed that different types of training (aerobic, resistance, combined) had significant effects on inflammatory markers, and the benefits were seen in both younger and older participants. These results suggest that exercise training may be an effective intervention for reducing inflammation and increasing adiponectin in postmenopausal women.
