The electrical and optical properties of PEDOT:PSS strongly affect the photovoltaic performance of hybrid solar cells, with the best performance achieved at an alpha value of 2.8.
Poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) doped with poly(4-styrenesulfonic acid) (PEDOT:PSS) with different composition ratios (alpha = [PSS]/[PEDOT]) was newly synthesized by chemical oxidative polymerization and organic/inorganic heterojunction hybrid solar cells were fabricated by spin-coating of the PEDOT:PSS water dispersion on n-type silicon wafer. It was found that the photovoltaic performance of the hybrid solar cells was strongly affected by electrical and optical properties of the PEDOT:PSS, where at alpha = 2.8 the short-circuit current (J (sc)), open-circuit voltage (V (oc)), and power conversion efficiency attained 32.1 mA cm(-2), 0.521 V, and 11.1%, respectively.
