Machine-learning for automatic prediction of flatness deviation considering the wear of the face mill teeth

Modeling the Dynamics of Five-Axis Machine Tool Using the Multibody Approach

Summary: This article presents a systematic modeling approach for multibody dynamics of five-axis machine tools, dividing the machine into major subassemblies and calculating the inertias and mass center of each subassembly before connecting them with springs and damping elements. The unknown elastic joint parameters are estimated from experimental modal analysis, resulting in a position-dependent multibody dynamic model with minimal degrees-of-freedom. The model can predict the machine's rigid body motion and vibrations efficiently, making it suitable for simulating dynamic performance in machining operations and servo drive control tests as a digital twin.
