Effect of dissolved oxygen and hydrogen on the stress corrosion cracking behavior of alloy 600 in high temperature water

Jiamei Wang et al.

Summary: The stress corrosion cracking behavior of alloy 600 in high temperature water is affected by dissolved oxygen and dissolved hydrogen. Alloy 600 showed higher crack growth rate in hydrogenated water compared to oxygenated water, except at lower temperatures. Additionally, the degree of intergranular oxidation at the crack tip has an impact on crack growth rate.

Residual stresses evolution during strip clad welding, post welding heat treatment and repair welding for a large pressure vessel

Wenchun Jiang et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the residual stress distribution and evolution during strip clad welding, proposing a new heat source model with good agreement to experimental results. It also addresses the limited effect of PWHT on residual stress and proposes a novel heat treatment method based on temperature regulation.

A rigid-flexible coordinated method to control weld residual stress and deformation during local PWHT for ultra-large pressure vessels

Qiang Jin et al.

Summary: This paper discusses the weld residual stress and deformation of ultra-large pressure vessels during local post welding heat treatment (PWHT), highlighting the main reasons for cracking and proposing a rigid-flexible coordinated control method to prevent cracking. The method is shown to reduce axial stresses, convert them to compressive stress, decrease radial deformation by 58%, and improve inconsistent deformation in welded joints, ensuring the safe service of ultra-large pressure vessels.

Reduction of welding residual stress in the head-cylinder joint of a large rectifying tower by finite element method and experimental study

Wei Peng et al.

Summary: The study investigates the welding residual stresses in a cracked head-cylinder joint of a large rectifying tower. Factors such as welding layer sequence, cover welding direction, and weld reinforcement were found to have significant effects on stress distribution. Unreasonable welding processes and structural discontinuities were identified as the main reasons for cracking, while proper welding techniques and sequences can alleviate stress concentration issues.
