Enhanced phytoremediation of PAHs and cadmium contaminated soils by a Mycobacterium

Na Li et al.

Summary: Fire Phoenix and N12 exhibited enhanced growth and removal capabilities in soils contaminated with PAHs and Cd, while E. purpurea did not show significant improvement. The enhanced removal of PAHs by Fire Phoenix and N12 was related to improved rhizosphere microbial activities.

PAH-degrading rhizobacteria of Lepironia articulata for phytoremediation enhancement

Nadya Hussin Al Sbani et al.

Summary: This study identified plant rhizobacteria capable of degrading polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and aiding in enhancing the phytoremediation of PAH-contaminated wastewater. The rhizobacteria isolated from the rhizosphere of Lepironia articulata showed promising potential for degrading PAHs and improving remediation efficiency.

Negative role of biochars in the dissipation and vegetable uptake of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in an agricultural soil: Cautions for application of biochars to remediate PAHs-contaminated soil

Fengsong Zhang et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that the addition of biochars can reduce the dissipation of PAHs in soil and increase their uptake by plants, especially for LMW-PAHs and MMW-PAHs. The significant reduction of Proteobacteria in biochar-amended soils resulted in a slower biodegradation of PAHs.

Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in urban stream sediments of Suzhou Industrial Park, an emerging eco-industrial park in China: Occurrence, sources and potential risk

Zijiao Yuan et al.

Summary: PAHs were the main pollutants in sediment samples from Suzhou Industrial Park, likely originating primarily from coal/biomass combustion, rather than residential and commercial activities. While most regions showed low toxicity risk levels for PAHs, vigilance is required at sampling sites with extremely high concentrations or high mean effects range?median quotient.
