Design and Investigation of Penetrating Mechanism of Octaarginine-Modified Alginate Nanoparticles for Improving Intestinal Insulin Delivery

Manman Li et al.

Summary: The study aimed to design octaarginine-modified insulin-alginate nanoparticles for oral insulin delivery, which showed improved stability, controlled release, insulin transport capacity, and hypoglycemic effect compared to unmodified nanoparticles. The mechanism of penetration may involve the production of endogenous nitric oxide signal molecule, leading to enhanced insulin intestinal uptake. The cytotoxicity analysis confirmed the safety of orally administrated nanoparticles, indicating their potential for oral delivery of protein drugs.

Antitumor Effect of Hyperoside Loaded in Charge Reversed and Mitochondria-Targeted Liposomes

Yufei Feng et al.

Summary: The novel dual-functional liposome system possessing both extracellular charge reversal and mitochondrial targeting properties significantly enhances drug accumulation in mitochondria and triggers apoptosis of cancer cells. The results demonstrate that the charge reversed and mitochondria-targeted liposomes facilitate cellular internalization and mitochondrial accumulation for enhanced antitumor effect. Therefore, this liposome system represents a promising anticancer drug delivery system for improved therapeutic efficacy.

The development of a biotin-guided and mitochondria-targeting fluorescent probe for detecting SO2 precisely in cancer cells

Yunyan Zhang et al.

Summary: Mitochondrial sulfur dioxide (SO2) plays a significant role in cancer cell activities, yet the specific physiological and pathological functions remain unclear. A fluorescent probe NS has been developed, showing high sensitivity, fast response, and selectivity for detecting mitochondrial SO2 in living cells. NS has the potential to serve as a powerful tool for precisely tracing mitochondrial SO2 in cancer cells.

Aidi injection induces apoptosis of hepatocellular carcinoma cells through the mitochondrial pathway

Hai-Yue Lan et al.

Summary: Aidi injection inhibits the growth of liver cancer by regulating the PI3K/Akt and MAPK signal transduction pathways, inducing mitochondrial apoptosis pathway through MMP collapse, and ultimately eliciting apoptosis of hepatocellular carcinoma cells.

Mitochondrial Dynamics and Liver Cancer

Maria Isabel Hernandez-Alvarez et al.

Summary: Hepatocellular carcinoma is a major cause of cancer-related deaths globally, with risk factors including viral infections, autoimmune hepatitis, diabetes, and alcohol abuse. Current therapies have limited efficacy, highlighting the need for novel treatment strategies. Emerging data suggest that mitochondrial dynamics may play a role in the development of liver tumors.
