Identification and evolution analysis of the JAZ gene family in maize

Yang Han et al.

Summary: Jasmonates play a crucial role in coordinating growth, reproduction, and defense responses in plants. JAZ genes, as master regulators in JA signaling pathway, have been identified and classified in maize genome. Through phylogenetic and synteny analysis, it was found that maize JAZ gene family has undergone expansion and selection.

Summary: This study reveals that the COI1-JAZ co-receptor in tomato plants relies on an extended JAZ degron sequence for ligand perception, instead of the canonical JAZ degron.

The secondary metabolites profile of Stemphylium lycopersici, the causal agent of tomato grey leaf spot, is complex and includes host and non-host specific toxins

Rocio Medina et al.

Summary: This study characterized the secondary metabolite profile of Stemphylium lycopersici, revealing twenty-four different SMs in cultures of 19 isolates. The number of synthesized metabolites was related to virulence level, but PCA analysis did not establish a clear relationship between SMs and virulence. Infectopyrone was the most frequently produced metabolite by the isolates.
