G-quadruplex binding properties of a potent PARP-1 inhibitor derived from 7-azaindole-1-carboxamide

Sabrina Dallavalle et al.

Summary: Poly ADP-ribose polymerases (PARP) play crucial roles in DNA repair, maintenance, and cell death regulation, making them important therapeutic targets for cancer treatment. Recent studies show that PARP enzymes are activated by G-quadruplex stabilization. A PARP-1 inhibitor has been found to effectively bind to G-quadruplex structures and may offer dual G4 stabilization/PARP inhibition for cancer therapy.
