Effect of the support composition on catalytic and physicochemical properties of Ni catalysts in oxy-steam reforming of methane

Summary: This study investigated the catalytic properties of Ni catalysts supported on different oxide surfaces in the oxy-steam reforming process of methane. The Ni/CeO2·La2O3 (2:1) catalyst exhibited superior activity and selectivity towards hydrogen formation, attributed to the high content of Ni species on the catalyst surface. However, the low activity of Ni catalysts supported on La2O3 or oxide with high lanthanum content is due to the strong interaction of NiO with the support.

Summary: The addition of citric acid improved the dispersion and reduced particle size of metal particles, while catalysts prepared from ammonia solution showed the largest metal particle size. In steam reforming of ethanol, dehydrogenation of ethanol takes place preferentially on terrace sites, while cleavage of C-C bond is favored by edge/steps sites.

Pt-based Catalysts in the Dry Reforming of Methane: Effect of Support and Metal Precursor on the Catalytic Stability

Summary: Platinum catalysts supported over CeO2 and gamma-Al2O3 using different Pt precursors showed different catalytic performance in dry reforming of methane (DRM) reaction. Pt supported over ceria catalysts exhibited better stability and catalytic properties, while alumina-supported catalysts had lower stability due to carbon residues and Pt particle sintering. Through various characterization techniques, a strong Pt-Ceria interaction was observed, contributing to the prevention of Pt particle agglomeration and promoting active sites for enhanced catalytic performance.
