Strigolactones and Auxin Cooperate to Regulate Maize Root Development and Response to Nitrate

Laura Ravazzolo et al.

Summary: Nitrate regulates root development in maize through the coordinated action of strigolactones (SLs) and auxin. The study found that nitrogen deficiency induces the biosynthesis of zealactone and carlactonoic acid in roots to a greater extent compared to phosphorus deficiency. The research also identified novel components involved in the molecular regulation of maize root response to nitrate.
