Microfluidics for nanomedicines manufacturing: An affordable and low-cost 3D printing approach

Mattia Tiboni et al.

Summary: Innovative lab-on-a-chip technology microfluidics has become popular in the pharmaceutical field for producing nanomedicines in a scalable way. However, new users face barriers such as access to expensive equipment and fabrication expertise. 3D printing, particularly fused deposition modeling, offers a promising solution to overcoming these barriers and expanding the realm of microfluidics. By developing polypropylene-based microfluidic chips through this technology, affordable and effective production of nanomedicines can be achieved with tunable characteristics and efficient drug loading.
