The prediction of critical buckling load of graphene sheet with different boundary conditions by a structural mechanics model

Vali Parvaneh et al.

Summary: This paper predicts the critical buckling load of single-layer and double-layer graphene with different boundary conditions using a structural mechanics model. It investigates the impact of van der Waals bonds, chirality, and graphene sheet dimensions on the critical buckling load, showing that van der Waals bonds have a greater effect in larger aspect ratios.

Discussion on Nonlinear buckling analysis of double-layered graphene nanoribbons based on molecular mechanics by Namnabat et al. Carbon Letters, https://doi.org/10.1007/s42823-020-00194-2

Summary: Recent studies have shown that the classical approach used by Namnabat et al. poorly simulates the mechanical moduli of graphene, especially the bending rigidity modulus. However, a modified version of this approach, as presented in Int J Eng Sci 133: 109-131, can accurately reproduce the mechanical moduli of graphene.
