Alloying Nickel with Molybdenum Significantly Accelerates Alkaline Hydrogen Electrocatalysis

Miao Wang et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates that alloying Ni with Mo significantly enhances its bifunctional hydrogen electrocatalysis performance in alkaline solution, leading to Ni4Mo alloy nanoparticles with superior hydrogen-oxidation and hydrogen-evolution activities. The experimental data are supported by theoretical simulations showing that Ni-Mo alloying weakens hydrogen adsorption, enhances hydroxyl adsorption, and reduces the reaction barrier for water formation.

Understanding the doping effect on hydrogen evolution activity of transition-metal phosphides: Modeled with Ni2P

Laifei Xiong et al.

Summary: Investigating the correlation between changes in electronic structure and catalytic activity in electrocatalysts is crucial for design and synthesis. Using Ni2P as a model catalyst for the hydrogen evolution reaction, the study systematically investigates the impact of doping heteroatoms on electrochemical performance. Results show that Badar charge increment and d-band center on the surface of doped Ni2P catalyst have a significant linear correlation with hydrogen adsorption energy. Additionally, experimental validation confirms that Fe and Co-doped Ni2P exhibits the best catalytic activity, with XPS and electrochemical tests supporting the theoretical analysis.

Tuning the Intermolecular Electron Transfer of Low-Dimensional and Metal-Free BCN/C60 Electrocatalysts via Interfacial Defects for Efficient Hydrogen and Oxygen Electrochemistry

Md Ariful Ahsan et al.

Summary: The development of OD-2D heterostructures composed of BCN NSs and C-60/F has led to the synthesis of supramolecular materials with multifunctional electrocatalytic properties for various reactions. By optimizing the intermolecular electron transfer, a nanohybrid material with 10% F in BCN NSs showed enhanced catalytic activity surpassing commercial RuO2 catalysts. The 10% F/BCN catalyst exhibited the highest tetrafunctional catalytic performance, achieving a cell potential of 1.61 V for water splitting at a current density of 10 mA cm(-)(2).
