Response surface optimization of syngas production from greenhouse gases via DRM over high performance Ni-W catalyst

Mohammad Yusuf et al.

Summary: The process parameters for dry reforming of methane (DRM) over Ni-W/Al2O3-MgO catalyst were optimized using response surface methodology (RSM). The optimized conditions achieved methane and carbon dioxide conversions of 87.6% and 93.3%, respectively, with a temperature of 777.29 degrees C, a CH4:CO2 ratio of 1.11, and a GHSV of 36,000 cm3gm.cat-1h-1. The formation of MWCNT during DRM prevented catalyst deactivation and maintained stable performance.

Methane Dry Reforming over Ni/Al2O3 Catalyst in Spark Plasma Reactor: Linking Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) with Reaction Kinetic Modelling

Damjan Lasic Jurkovic et al.

Summary: The study highlights the use of plasma based dry reforming for valorisation of methane and carbon dioxide, achieving high yields in a non-equilibrium atmospheric pressure spark discharge reactor. The potential for CO2 plasma regeneration and cyclic reaction operation to tackle coking issues is also discussed.

Contemporary trends in composite Ni-based catalysts for CO2 reforming of methane

Mohammad Yusuf et al.

Summary: Converting greenhouse gases into valuable syngas through catalytic dry reforming of methane (DRM) is a viable solution, with Ni-based catalysts being extensively used and tested. The main limitation lies in catalyst deactivation due to carbon formation and sintering. Current research focus is on composite catalysts and density functional theory modeling for designing an ideal catalyst.

Syngas production from greenhouse gases using Ni-W bimetallic catalyst via dry methane reforming: Effect of W addition

Mohammad Yusuf et al.

Summary: DMR is a promising technique to utilize rising greenhouse gases for producing alternative energy sources. The addition of Tungsten (W) to Ni-based catalysts on mixed oxide support is being tested, with Ni-W catalyst showing steady performance and elevated conversions of CH4 and CO2.
