High pressure ignition delay times of H2/CO mixture in carbon dioxide and argon diluent

Miad Karimi et al.

Summary: The study investigates the ignition properties of syngas fuel in high-pressure conditions for sCO(2) power cycle applications, and evaluates the performance of different kinetic models. Experimental results show that CO2 dilute gas and Argon have different chemical effects on IDT, but globally CO2 does not significantly alter the IDT compared to Argon.

Numerical simulation of the effects of hydrogen and carbon monoxide ratios on the combustion and emissions for syngas fuels in a radiant burner

Gianfranco Scribano et al.

Summary: This study numerically investigated the performance of a gas-fired radiant-tube fueled with syngas and air mixtures. The results showed that the syngas fuel with a ratio of 75H2:25CO performed better with lower emissions compared to other tested fuels.

Experimental study on the influence of the nitrogen concentration in the oxidizer on NOx and CO emissions during the oxy-fuel combustion of natural gas

Christian Gaber et al.

Summary: The research explored the impact of nitrogen concentration, oxygen/fuel equivalence ratio, and temperature on the combustion characteristics of a natural gas fired oxyfuel jet burner. Increasing nitrogen concentration led to significant increase in NOx emissions and decrease in CO emissions. The influence of oxygen/fuel equivalence ratio on NOx emissions became more pronounced with higher nitrogen concentration.

Experimental analysis of CO/H2 syngas with NOx and SOx reactions in pressurized oxy-fuel combustion

Donghee Kim et al.

Summary: This study investigated the combustion characteristics and NOx/SOx emissions at different pressures using a lab-scale pressurized oxy-fuel combustion system. Higher pressure resulted in increased heat recovery rate, lower combustion temperature, and higher heat flow rate with higher H2O content in flue gas. NOx and SOx emissions decreased under low H2O conditions in flue gas, and significantly decreased under high H2O conditions at 10 barg. The study identified the effects of H radicals and H2O fraction on the oxidation and decrease of NOx and SOx.

Numerical study on the heat transfer characteristics, flame structure, and pollutants emission in the MILD methane-air, oxygen-enriched and oxy-methane combustion

E. Ebrahimi Fordoei et al.

Summary: This study investigates the characteristics of MILD oxygen-enriched and oxy-methane combustion compared to MILD methane-air combustion, showing advantages such as reduced visible light emissions, lower maximum temperature, enhanced temperature uniformity, more distributed reaction zone, and significant reduction of NOx emissions. CO emissions behave differently under MILD oxygen-enriched conditions, remaining unchanged, while increasing when injecting 90% CO2 mass fraction into MILD oxy-methane combustion.

Qiaosheng Zhang et al.

Summary: The study experimentally measured and numerically calculated the LBVs of seven different composition mixtures, showing a significant increase in LBVs with higher oxygen concentrations and higher sensitivity of CH4-rich mixtures to oxygen levels. Different reaction mechanisms exhibit variations in predicting LBVs under different conditions.

Numerical investigation of the effects of H2/CO/syngas additions on laminar premixed combustion characteristics of NH3/air flame

Zhiqiang Chen et al.

Summary: This study systematically investigated the laminar premixed combustion characteristics of NH3/air flame with various H-2/CO/SYN addition loadings, and found that H-2 has the greatest effects on increasing laminar burning velocities and net heat release rates, while CO significantly improves the adiabatic flame temperatures. The addition of H-2/CO/SYN can accelerate NH3 decomposition rates and promote the generation of radicals, showing a positive linear correlation with laminar burning velocities.
