The relation between prepregnancy maternal body mass index and total gestational weight gain with the characteristics of the newborns

Anca Bacarea et al.

Summary: The study found a positive correlation between maternal BMI and excessive GWG with the birth weight of newborns. Women with higher BMI had significantly higher preterm delivery rates. However, no significant correlation was found between total GWG during pregnancy or maternal GWG and the measured anthropometric parameters of newborns.

Suggested Gestational Weight Gain for Chinese Women and Comparison with Institute of Medicine Criteria: A Large Population-Based Study

Wei Zheng et al.

Summary: The study suggests different suggested gestational weight gain (GWG) ranges based on various methods in a Chinese population, with method 3 resulting in a larger proportion of participants within range. This indicates that the suggested GWG goals may differ from the Institute of Medicine (IOM) recommendations for a large Chinese cohort.
