Water column baseline assessment for offshore Carbon Dioxide Capture and Storage (CCS) sites: Analysis of field data from the Goldeneye storage complex area

Mario Esposito et al.

Summary: By analyzing the physico-chemical characteristics of the water column at the Goldeneye site, we found clear tidal, seasonal, and inter-annual variations during the monitoring period, with changes in pH and pCO(2) ranging between +/- 0.008 and +/- 1.5 mu atm. Our study aims to provide a solid background for distinguishing potential impacts of CO2 emissions at offshore carbon storage sites.

Detection and quantification of CO2 seepage in seawater using the stoichiometric Cseep method: Results from a recent subsea CO2 release experiment in the North Sea

Abdirahman M. Omar et al.

Summary: Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) is a potential significant mitigation strategy to combat climate change and ocean acidification. Scaling up its implementation is essential to meet mitigation targets, along with the development of reliable monitoring strategies to detect and quantify carbon seepage. The Cseep method demonstrated high sensitivity, automation suitability, and potential as a powerful future monitoring tool for marine areas.
