Adsorption of copper ions from polluted water using biochar derived from waste renewable resources: static and dynamic analysis

Kilaru Harsha Vardhan et al.

Summary: The aim of this research is to remove Cu(II) ions from aqueous solution using sulphuric acid-modified Annona reticulata seeds (SMARS) biochar. The results indicate that SMARS has exceptional adsorption behavior in eliminating heavy metals from the aqueous solution. Under the best operating condition for column mode of operation, Cu(II) ions can be effectively removed by SMARS.

Disulfide Cross-Linked Poly(Methacrylic Acid) Iron Oxide Nanoparticles for Efficiently Selective Adsorption of Pb(II) from Aqueous Solutions

Rui Wang et al.

Summary: The study developed novel Fe3O4@S-S/PMAA nanoparticles with selective adsorption, improved adsorption capability, and economic reusability for selective removal of Pb(II) ions from aqueous solution. Various characterization techniques were utilized to study the physicochemical properties of Fe3O4@S-S/PMAA, and batch adsorption experiments were performed to investigate the adsorption properties of the nanoparticles for Co(II) and Pb(II) ions. The results showed that the Fe3O4@S-S/PMAA nanoparticles exhibited high adsorption capacity for Pb(II) ions with good regeneration efficiency, providing a potential technical platform for selective removal of heavy metal ions from contaminated water.

Green synthesis of hydrophilic activated carbon supported sulfide nZVI for enhanced Pb(II) scavenging from water: Characterization, kinetics, isotherms and mechanisms

Jianhua Qu et al.

Summary: In this study, green tea extracts were used as a reductant for the green synthesis of nZVI with low aggregation and high antioxidation, which was further modified with hydrophilic porous activated carbon and sulfidation technology. The results indicated the successful preparation of porous activated carbon with microporous and mesoporous characteristics and effective loading of S-nZVI nanoparticles. The S-nZVI@HPAC showed excellent pH-dependent adsorption performance for Pb(II) with fast kinetic equilibrium and outstanding binding capacity.

Review of Advances in Engineering Nanomaterial Adsorbents for Metal Removal and Recovery from Water: Synthesis and Microstructure Impacts

Jinming Luo et al.

Summary: This critical review discusses the synthesis methods of nanomaterial adsorbents (NAs) and assesses their scalability for full-scale applications. It also examines the impact of NAs structures on metal adsorption and emphasizes the need to prioritize research to balance production costs and feasibility of desired properties at commercial scale quantities. Furthermore, it suggests the establishment of an evaluation protocol for NAs to consider both adsorption capacity and mass transfer kinetics during material discovery stage and long-term testing in real applications.
