Effect of controlled and uncontrolled pH on tannery wastewater treatment by the electrocoagulation process

Zuleyha Bingul et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of the pH of tannery wastewater on the removal of COD and turbidity, as well as the cost of the electrocoagulation process. The results showed that the highest COD removal efficiency of 83.5% was achieved at an initial pH of 3, with an energy consumption of 3.88 kWh m(-3). When the pH was kept constant at 5, the highest removal efficiency of 83.33% was obtained, with an energy consumption of 2.44 kWh m(-3).

Various wastewaters treatment by sono-electrocoagulation process: A comprehensive review of operational parameters and future outlook

Masoud Moradi et al.

Summary: Electrochemical processes offer advantages over traditional water treatment systems, with Electrocoagulation (EC) and Ultrasonic (US) being important methods. EC neutralizes pollutant surface charges, while US breaks down sediments and generates radical species for pollutant removal. Despite their wide application, further research is needed on parameters and applications of these methods.

Dewaterability and degradability of municipal wastewater sludge by electrooxidation/electrocoagulation (EOx/EC) and ultrasound-assisted electrooxidation/electrocoagulation(US/EOx/EC) processes: Determination of operational conditions

Fuat Ozyonar et al.

Summary: This study investigated the potential use of electrooxidation-electrocoagulation and ultrasound-assisted electrooxidation-electrocoagulation processes with hybrid electrodes to improve the dewaterability and degradability of active sludge. The experiments showed that, under high current density, sludge dewaterability decreased while sludge degradability increased, and both filtration times and degree of degradation decreased with increasing air injection flow rates. The SEM analysis was used to determine the structural changes in the sludge after each process.
