Exploring the potential of lead-chalcogenide monolayers for room-temperature thermoelectric applications

Bakhtiar Ul Haq et al.

Summary: The article discusses the development of monolayers of lead-chalcogenides PbX for room-temperature thermoelectric applications, using computational approaches like Density functional theory and semiclassical Boltzmann transport theory. The study shows that PbX monolayers exhibit narrow bandgaps and significant improvement in electrical conductivities and Seebeck coefficients under moderate doping. The results suggest that PbTe monolayers, in particular, have a better thermoelectric response compared to their bulk counterparts, indicating their potential for nanoscale thermoelectric applications at room temperature.
